About this site:
theRussiaSite.org is owned and operated by John Fowler. It is
a not-for-profit site, and contains no advertising. This site is
intended to provide resources for persons wishing to learn more about Russia
or Russia-related issues. Because Internet access is limited or very
slow in many parts of the Former Soviet Union, I have intentionally kept
the graphics to a minimum to make using this site as easy and quick as
possible. Nobody needs another web site with a big scanned photo
of St. Basil's or the Kremlin - you already know what they look like, and
when you are in Chelyabinsk trying to download a page at 4800 baud, you'll
be glad this site doesn't have many pictures.
About the content:
Submissions are encouraged. The more information you submit to
this site, the more interesting this site will become. Links to sites
in languages other than English are marked as such. Suggestions for
new topics, or links to other sites, are also welcome. Any suggestions
or comments should be sent to info@theRussiaSite.org
About me:
For a short time in 1992 (September-December) and from September 1994
to July 2000 I lived, studied and worked in Moscow. I have an MA
in Russian from Middlebury College, and have studied at Moscow State University
and MGIMO. I also hold a Juris Doctor and a Master of Laws in International
and Comparative Law from the Duke University School of Law.
In my spare time I'm an avid classical musician.
I currently work as a freelance translator. If you require translation
services, feel free to contact me
and I'll happy to help you or direct you to other translators.
